Race Replay
Last week Chihenne blew by the competition to clinch her second's Breeders' Cup trip of the year, outfinishing frontrunning Wren to the wire in the Goldikova. Today, only five horses will vie for the very last spot available in our Breeders' Cup challenge series as we line them up in the Chamberlain Bridge!
Rhapsody's War Hero will take up the banner today, after finishing on the board in all of his BC preps except last week, where he inexplicably faded to fifth after setting the pace. Shizuka will be his co-favorite after scoring her BC prep triumph and she'll try to keep that good luck streak going after finishing second in so many of her BC preps. Vice Versa is tied for second choice with the rest of the field, but will have to be on her A-game to finish on the board when she has failed to hit it in her last few starts. Bad Wolf is another horse that needs to improve his fortunes after qualifying for the Sprint, as his failure to secure another win in and out of the BC preps has the bettors scratching their heads at racing luck. Airdrie Apache rounds out the field and while this flashy red colt has shown streaks of brilliance, he's been dead in the water against the higher echelon of the BC competitors.
The curtain is closing on this year's Breeders' Cup Challenge series, with only one free spot left to win for our last few races. With five horses ready to go under clear but cold skies, we say goodbye to this year's series and hello to the Breeders' Cup as they load into the gate for this year's Chamberlain Handicap!
