Race Replay
Two weeks ago, Heathen continued his hot streak on the Derby trail, nailing his third prep race in a row and stamping him as one of the top three year old males in the country. Today, he's putting that win streak on the line against 9 familiar rivals, as we head to the Sunshine State for this year's Florida Derby!
Hard Tack's Horus is the favorite again today, but the high-flying bay will have to share it with Dekada's Cahokia Sky, as both colts have shown tremendous ability both on and off the Derby trail. Heathen is second choice today after three straight wins on the Derby trail, with Cancer right there with him, after several good placings out in graded stakes company. Silverbulletday winner Coco will look to continue her own win streak, after scoring two straight victories in Grade 3 company, while Yokai will try to string together back to back wins after his own Grade 3 score, something he has struggled with in the past. Up and coming Rash will look to tangle with the big boys and the medicine hat son of Sassy Lassie will try to transfer his stunning juvenile form to sophomore competition. Rhapsody's Thistle makes her Derby trail debut and the daughter of Derby winner Prince of Thorns will look to make her daddy and stable proud. Mary Lou and Checkers are the longest shots on the board, and it remains to be seen if Turn & Burn can make the same impact today as they did in 2017 when Keen Ice took the Preakness Stakes.
It's a beautiful day for a horse race, and our 10 talented colts and fillies are sparkling like diamonds as they step onto the track for this year's Florida Derby!
The Road to the Derby continues NOW on Seeing Stars!
