Race Replay
Two weeks ago, Buchiko made a breakthrough by running down Under The Mask in the final sixteenth, cementing a spot among the top filly competitors of the sophomore class. Today, we move to the Fairgrounds as a whopping 11 fillies take their places in the starting gate in this year's Fairground Oaks!
Hard Tack's Buchiko is the favorite today after her convincing win at Gulfstream, but she may be vulnerable after a so-so experience in Dubai. Coco is her co-favorite today and after scoring convincingly over males in the Florida Derby and the UAE Derby, she will be the one to watch as we continue to trace our path to the Oaks. Filly champ Girl Gone Wild is close behind and has flashed her juvenile ability in graded company, while Under The Mask has a lot of ground to make up after a disappointing season in Dubai. Dapper Doll is on the upswing as the flashy filly won her last out over males in the G2 ranks, with Thistle also coming along after several in the money finishes in allowance company. Groupi Doll is getting more attention today after a sharp score in her own allowance race, but she still has yet to prove she'll be fine in a field as big as this. Duchess and Mary Lou have shown some ability for Turn & Burn, while Gracie has been falling behind her stablemates in an unfortunate backslide. Windmere's Intuition makes her Triple Tiara debut and while she has shown some talent in the allowance ranks, she's in for a big step up in this company.
A storm has rolled through the region leaving the track tacky and the sky grey, but these eleven fillies are still shining like stars as we line up for this year's Fairground Oaks!
The Road to the Oaks continues NOW on Seeing Stars!
