Race Replay
Two weeks ago, Coco stormed to the winner's circle with a front running victory over males, continuing her dominating performances that started in the Oaks and continued in Dubai in the UAE Derby. Today, 10 more rivals, new and old, stand at the ready to try and take her down, as we line them up for the Fountain of Youth Stakes!
Dekada's Cahokia Sky holds court as the narrow favorite, but he'll need to take a big step up after a disappointing series of efforts in Dubai. Horus will look to make a breakthrough after coming up short in the entire Derby series, while Heathen will try to find a way to return to his win that saw him score three in a row in the beginning of the season. Coco will look to keep her own win streak alive after scoring in the UAE Derby and Fairground Oaks, and this top filly will have it against her with so much speed in the race. Yokai will try to use all of that speed to his advantage with his patented late-closing run, while Cancer will try to run them off their feet with his early quick speed. Thistle returns a stronger filly after several in the money finishes in allowance company, while Mary Lou will have more work to do after a series of disappointing efforts in her own allowance races. Rash will need to clear the field and break cleanly if he wants a shot at a clear lead, while Checkers will have to find the shortest route through a big field with his late closing kick. Windmere's Intuition makes her Triple Crown debut, and she'll have to launch her own big effort to make a dent in this salty pack.
A storm has rolled through the region leaving the track tacky and the sky grey, but these eleven colts and fillies are still shining like stars as we line up for this year's Fountain of Youth Stakes!
The Road to the Derby continues NOW on Seeing Stars!
