A week ago, Mokuso blew the field away in stakes record time as he scorched to the wire well ahead of his rivals, cementing his spot as one of the top turf sophomores on the forum. Today, Mokuso is passing the torch to his stablemates as foes new and old line up for the penultimate trial before the spring classics in the UK!
Under The Mask is the favorite today and with several scores already on the Oaks trail in the US, she's looking to transfer that sparkling form to turf with a trial win. Bandit isn't far behind and this top-shelf colt is looking for his first stakes win, having only missed by inches in his prior tries. War Axe is third choice today despite a head-scratching last place finish in his previous race, while statuesque Rash will try to bring it all together in a career that saw him demolish open company while struggle in stakes. Minx will look to improve on her third last out in allowance company, while Checkers is showing all the signs of an upswing, after a hard-charging second over Minx in his prior race. Goldikova hasn't had all the luck as of late, but she's one of the most consistent horses in the race and can put herself into the mix with a sharp break. Firebrand is the longest shot of all in double digits, and she'll need all the pace in the world to make a dent at the finish line.
It's been a wet and wild spring, with thunderstorms ravaging the area just the night prior, leaving the track a boggy mess and one that may work against many of our runners today. It may be a battle against the elements as the clouds close in again, but our 8 colts and fillies will have to race against the clock and each other to find that wire first before the skies open up in this year's Blue Riband Trial!
