Hi fellow Thoroughbred owners! Here is everything and anything about racing in the qualifying rounds and in the Olympics. If you read through all of this and have any questions or concerns, please post here or PM a mod or admin!
Every qualifying race and Olympic race will have the following weights by grade level:
Open Level: 112
Juvenile Grade 3: 116
Grade 3: 120
Grade 2: 126
Grade 1: 130
Juvenile?
Olympic racing is separated a little differently than our usual races because we're using the term "juvenile". A juvenile horse is any racer that has stats at 69 and under. The horse can be 2, 3, 5 years old - it makes no difference as long as none of its stats are 70+. We've divided the horses this way so that it is more fair and horses compete against their peers in terms of stats. Only juveniles may race in juvenile designated races, however, if you want to toss a juvenile into a normal race, that's up to you! (But probably not a great idea...)
All races will be awarding stats like normal races, however, if your juvenile horse qualifies for an Olympic race and somehow earns enough points that its stats are 70+ by the time the Olympic Games begin, it will either be disqualified OR may race with the same stats it raced with in the race that it qualified in.
How to make it to the Olympics
The Olympic races are by invitation only. Only horses that are qualified may enter. At almost all of the world tour stops, the TOP 3 horses in each race will qualify to race in the Olympic version of that race. However, in our Australian stop, only the TOP 2 horses in each race will qualify. This means that each Olympic race can, and hopefully, will, have 14 racehorses entered. While each qualifying race will limit the racehorse entries to 3 per person, the final Olympic races will not have a per person limit. This is so that, by the time we near the end of the tour, there are still enough non-qualified racehorses left to participate in the qualifying rounds.
NOTE: All horses who won medals in Rio in 2016 are disqualified from competing again in any race they won a medal in last time. Check out this thread to see all the 2016 medalists!
Choose a country...
Remember, if your horse qualifies for an Olympic race at any of the stops, you may choose a country (from the continent or region that it qualified in) that it will represent in the Olympics! This just adds a little flavor and makes it feel more like a worldwide event. If you are wondering what countries are included in the stop or just want some inspiration, check out this list!
If your horse qualifies, please post in the finished race or PM a mod or admin to let them know which country you've chosen for your horse. If you don't pick a country after your horse qualifies, it will be assigned a random one before the Olympic races.
The following racing schedule will ideally be what happens. We can't tell the future, but we'll do our best to stick to it and stay on course!
