It's the first Saturday (just pretend) in May and that means the Kentucky Derby is finally here! With a full, fairly split field of 14 of colts and fillies, it's a spectacular group that will battle it out for this year's coveted prize of the Triple Crown. It's been a wild season as Heathen, Horus, and Coco have slugged it out to the wire in all seven preps, with Heathen holding a slight edge with three victories to his rivals' two each. Coco, however, has won the last two preps plus a number of Oaks trials, and she may come out to the be the one to beat - with the very real possibility that a filly would wear the Roses for the second year in a row! It's a battle royale of the top Thoroughbreds on the forum, as it all comes to a head in this year's KENTUCKY DERBY!

It's the first Friday in May and the sun is ablaze in a perfect blue sky as we descend upon Churchill Downs for the biggest 3yo race of the year! It's nearly a full field of sparklingly dappled colts and fillies, but all eyes seem to be on only on a handful of them as the top sophomores on the forum clash for those coveted roses over 10 short furlongs.
Hard Tack's Horus is the narrow favorite today and the towering colt looks the part, leading the post parade to the wire much like he loves to lead the field in a race. Midgard's Cahokia Sky is equally handsome and only a beat behind in the betting, and he figures to be tracking those long legs of Horus as they charge around the track. Heathen will be right there with Horus as the son of two Triple Crown winners will try to live up to his parents' lofty expectations with his own Derby win, while Coco will look to build on her Oaks success to pull off the very first Derby/Oaks double. Ghostly Yokai will unless his late-running charge to run down all these front runners to gain his own shot at Derby glory, while Midgard's Cancer will be part of the scrum up front and use his tactical speed that's already earned him three berths into Tokyo to outrun his rivals. Rhapsody's Riot is another late-running colt that could make an impact in the final quarter mile, while stablemate Thistle will look to break up the monopoly up front with her sharp breaking skills and quick off the blocks speed. Stablemates Mary Lou and Checkers have similar running styles to pick up the pieces late, while Rash will have work to do to break clean and clear the field for his own shot at history. Longshots Gracie and Intuition both figure to be in the middle of the field during the race, but will have their work cut out for them in the charge to the wire under the storied Twin Spires of Churchill Downs.
The sky is the picture of perfection with a brilliant sun and a deep sapphire sky, with not a cloud to be seen on these 13 incredible colts and fillies as they take to the track for their ultimate goal - a coronation of roses.
