Neco's Olympic Auction #2: South America
I will tell you what I know about South America - not much. It's got llamas, right? Which are like furry camels that spit, but also have nice wool so no one cares that they spit, but I do, because that's just weird, who wants to wear a spitting furry camel?
For every stop on the tour, I will be posting TWO new horses hexed on breeds that are endemic to the continent, but maybe you never heard of? Or maybe you got more of that "book-lernin" than this gal from the Midwest, and you know your ponies.
This week, we have... the Campolina!
The Campolina is the largest of the three gaiting horses of Brazil, due to the influence of European stock that was brought in the early 20th Century. Originally developed by a farmer named Cassiano Campolina (get it?!), the resulting foals from crossing Brazilian Barb mares with Andulusian and European stallions resulted in a distinctive and beautifully-gaited breed known for its ambling four-gaited movements and convex-shaped head. The Campolina is a rare horse right now on Seeing Stars, but you can really stand out with one of these animals in DRESSAGE, SHOW HUNTERS and HALTER.
