The 1000 Guineas Stakes is run on the Rowley Mile at Newmarket over a distance of 1 mile (8F) and is scheduled to take place each year in late April or early May on the Sunday following the 2000 Guineas Stakes. It is the second of Britain's five Classic races, and the first of two restricted to fillies. It can also serve as the opening leg of the Fillies' Triple Crown, followed by the Oaks and the St Leger, but the feat of winning all three is rarely attempted.

Summer has finally arrived on the dreary heels of spring, and the sun is sparkling in a cloudless sky above Newmarket as we gear up for the biggest 3yo filly turf race of the year! 8 grass specialists will clash today in the first jewel of the filly turf Triple Crown, and with all of them so evenly matched, we're in for a heck of a horse race when the stalls open!
Hard Tack's Dapper Doll, of all horses, is the favorite today, despite failing to win any trials so far this season. The flashy daughter of Bold Lady, however, has shown high promise on the grass, finishing in the money in her last three tries showing a high affinity for Newmarket. Under The Mask is next and while this filly showed some of her brilliance early on in the dirt Triple Tiara, she's also shown a liking for the turf and has scored some of her best races on the grass. Goldikova is co-second choice, and has already won brilliantly on the turf, along with stablemate Thistle, who took the first trial of the season and then spent most of her time trying to add an Oaks prep to it. It's a jump to Minx as fifth choice but a mile may be too short for her, as her best running is done over a route of ground. Gracie is next on the list and while this filly has shown some promise, she hasn't shown the talent her twin sister Dapper Doll has flashed at times. Lucille is double digits today and this late-closing filly will have some work to do with only one pace horse in the field, while Intuition is a big jump at the longest shot on the board - but she's hit the board in her last two outings in style and may be able to make in impact today.
