Race Replay
Last week saw Unrequited blow the competition away with a surging out of the clouds victory, leaving her rivals in the dust and demolishing the old stakes by more than half a second. Today, only four, the smallest field in the BC prep history, will clash for the last free spot in the Breeders' Cup Marathon, and it's an evenly matched field that goes to the post for this year's Ribot Handicap!
Hard Tack's Pyrite leads the field today by only a narrow margin, and this grey warhorse has been nothing but consistent for his owner, bulling his way through the graded competition to earn his shot at the Breeders' Cup. Lavender Hill's Eight Seconds has shown much promise in his career, throwing down with the best of them in the graded ranks, but has come up short in both the BC preps and the English Triple Crown this season after a stellar opening to his career in the spring. Daella is another mare that's on the upswing after a good showing in the spring and summer, while Splinter Twin makes her Breeders' Cup debut a deep one against three very accomplished stayers.
The temperature has taken a decided drop on the East Coast, but it's the weather all horses and racing fans love, with clear blue skies and balmy breezes that keep the flies off and the heat down. With only four to contest this final prep for the Breeders' Cup Marathon, it's time for our boys and girls to throw it all down on the track with one last battle for the winner's circle. It's time to let em roll in the Ribot Handicap!
