Welcome to the first ever race at Hawkstone Race Track! Today we have a field of six maidens going nine furlongs on the turf. It's a beautiful sunny day here and the turf is firm for today's event! The post positions are as follows:
1. Akudama (1.7)
2. Goddess's Grudge (4.4)
3. Ryuk (4.4)
4. Eviscerate (3.2)
5. Uptown Girl (4.8)
6. Coquelicot (4.4)
The odds are very close in this field, with Akudama being given the edge over Eviscerate, but the entire field is under 5-1, so the crowd thinks it's anybody's race. Debut runner Akudama is expected to contest the lead alongside fellow first-timer starter, stablemate Eviscerate, which could compromise the chances of both Hawkstone runners and set it up for the likes of Uptown Girl, who is the longest shot on the board but should be running late. The most experienced runner in the field is Coquelicot, who figures to get a beautiful stalking trip from the outside position. First time starter Goddess's Grudge cannot be underestimated, either - the daughter of Animosity and Athena Watchover is a 3/4 sibling to second choice Eviscerate.
