Doma Vaquera Clinic
Doma Vaquera Clinic
Doma Vaquera is a riding style unique to the vaqueros of a number of Spanish influenced countries, where the horse carries out highly collected manoeuvres calmly and softly yet with lightning speed when asked, forms not only the basis of high school but is used for cutting cattle, working fighting cattle and by the rejoneador, the horse mounted bullfighter. Real doma vaquera is an art and requires a high standard of horsemanship and it is not surprising that it has existed for years among those people working with cattle; for example the gauchos of South America, the charros of Mexico, the puchta of Hungary, the llaneros of Columbia and Venezuela and of course the vaqueros of Spain, specifically Andalusia.
In our Doma Vaquera clinic, your horse will have to perform a set number of required moves and several freestyle moves in a complete showcase of your horse's abilities. You will be asked to post five poses of your horse in various Doma Vaquera poses, with three required poses and two freestyle poses where your horse can show off his or her athleticism.
Rules
You may enter unlimited horses!
You must have five poses to enter for each horse
Horses must be age 100 on brainsliders
Poses can face either left or right
I want to make a note that ANY TROTTING POSES ARE NOT ALLOWED. In Doma Vaquera, these are considered a penalty and can get your horse disqualified.
Judging
Judging is based on how closely your horse adheres to the ideal of the pose it is doing. For a walk, the horse should be as collected as possible, while for a canter or a gallop, the horse should be fully extended to show off the stride. The horse's body must be as straight as possible with its head aligned. Your horse must have a calm or happy expression; the only exceptions are in the sliding stop, where the horse may have wider/surprised eyes due to how the pose is acquired. Worried or angry eyes will be faulted.
You ARE NOT JUDGED AGAINST THE OTHER CONTESTANTS! Each horse is judged on its own merit to earn their certificate!
Poses
You must post four total poses for this clinic - two required and two "freestyle" poses. The required poses can be any of the three listed below:
Walk
Canter
Rein Back
Piaffe
You may also enter any "freestyle" poses that show off your horse's athleticism and willingness to listen to his or her rider. Freestyle poses include:
Gallop
Sliding Stop
Flying Lead Change
I want to make a note that ANY TROTTING POSES ARE NOT ALLOWED. In Doma Vaquera, these are considered a penalty and can get your horse disqualified. I put this in TWICE so any entrants will be sure to see it - if you post a trotting pose with your horse, he or she will not get their certificate and you'll have to enter again.
