When Rafa came out with her Arabian file, I knew that this would be the file that I start a line in. I started off with Calla & Lennox (now renamed Cyryl & Lech) and showed them a bit but then I sort of lost interest. Recently, I picked up a book I had ordered last summer, Arabians by Peter Upton. I had never fully read it since purchasing it so I decided to do that and in doing that, it really rekindled my interest in pursuing my line of Arabians. So I put little post-its on pictures of Arabians that I wanted to hex and spent all of yesterday doing just that. Two of the horses I wanted to hex I put on hold due to the Arabian raffle (in case I'm lucky enough to win one) and because I'm getting one of my Arabians upgraded.
Anyway, onto the Arabians!
First up are my broodmares!
This is Ada and she is a seal brown mare. Among the broodmares, she gets along with Cyryl the most. The two of them are definitely the two 'alpha' mares among the brood. Ada herself tends to get a bit hot-headed but she's obedient once she's alone and is very willing to work. She definitely prefers to get down to business though, rather than mess around.
Next is Cyryl who is a black mare. Best friends with Ada, so I consider them the 'twins' despite the fact that both are not black. The twins also tolerate Honorata around them, so I guess the three of them could be considered friends. Cyryl is similar to Ada, she can be a bit harder to work with but she's much sillier and is fine if you take a little bit of downtime rather than working. She'll happily chill with you.
Honorata is a grey mare with pigment spotting on her muzzle. She gets pushed around a lot by Teofila so she tends to stick with the twins for some protection, so to speak. She's very sweet and patient and so she tends to be easier to work with. That said, she also seems particularly slow to warm up to things so working with her requires a lot of patience on your end as well.
Next is Sybilla, a chestnut mare. Probably the favourite mare that I've hexed and she stands out in personality as well. She's actually a loner in the paddock, definitely the 'baby' of the group because she's very very playful and loves to run along the fence line waiting for you to approach her. She's also full of energy so working with her requires some patience but there's nothing better to her than spending time with you.
Last of the mares, at the moment at least, is Teofila who is a grey mare. She's very much sort of the pushy, dominant mare in the group and doesn't tend to enjoy being crowded by the other mares so she'll go off on her own sometimes. Usually we turn her out with Sybilla, as they don't bother each other, whereas the other three mares will tend to approach her and set off her temper.
On the stallions now! I do also have Bones (currently being converted by Gor) who may be a stallion or may end up a gelding. But he's not here since I don't have him back yet c:
First up is Donat, a dominant white stallion. His opposite eye is brown, he's not splash, and likely won't pass on this pattern very often. That said, he's probably my least favourite in terms of conformation (as the file naturally has variations and I just picked randomly) so I may geld him because he's heavier than I'd like for my Arabians. He's... a pain in the rear, haha. He's sweet, but super picky with who he's willing to work with.
Second is Lech (formerly Lennox) and he's a dappled bay stallion. My absolute favourite in terms of conformation, Lech is what I will be striving for with this program. That and his temperament is perfection, he's very very easy to work with and so that makes him a pleasure to work with. Especially compared to some of the other horses. He's laid back enough to be a gelding, honestly, lol.
Last of the stallions is Walenty, a rose grey stallion. My favourite out of the whole group colour-wise, I'm very proud of him, haha. He moves with a feeling of elegance and he's the kind of horse that you just like to sit and stare at. I'm very very excited at the prospect of working with him and also breeding him in the future. Surprisingly, he gets along with Lech. Both of them basically hate/ignore Donat though, haha.
I'm still awaiting Bones, like I mention above, and potentially a raffle horse if I'm lucky but otherwise I might post a Wanted Ad because while I wanted this to be a homebred line, I think it would be doing myself a disservice if I don't adopt from other people and have chances to outcross. Although, I don't think there are any active breeders of this file in particular.
I am planning to show them but since they are the foundation generation, I'll be more open about breeding them to help promote the file and also see what sort of things they can produce
So that's my current Arabian herd, not including my Egyptian Arabians (the regular Arabian file). Long showoff but worth it! I love love love this file!! <3[/div]
