This is just a page to vent and to let anyone curious know what's been happening with me recently. I've been feeling stress waves on and off for about two weeks. Let me explain why.
My grandma (I call her my Mimi) has been hospitalized until actually two days ago. She's a really handy woman and loves home repair. Well, it was a pretty average day. My college had a cook out so I was out with my cousin, but my Mimi wasn't feeling too well. She was complaining about her back hurting her and I really couldn't do much. I go home, Mom calls and asks me to pick my Brother up from school.
While going through a neighborhood I hear a loud pop from the back right along with some smoke trailing up. I get out, check my tire, but it's not flat. Come to find out, my tire wasn't even spinning. I hadn't even thought to grab my phone because it was such a short trip. So I'm stranded in this neighborhood. Luckily, I'm right by a school so I get out and walk.
When I get to the school, I start to freak out because everything is in a different language. It's this big gated school for Islamic (sorry, it's actually the only one I've ever seen) families. There were children on the playground, people here and there, women with their heads covered up. I felt a little bit of culture shock along with the feeling of being completely lost. Some really kind woman let me use her cellphone so I left a voicemail on my Mom's phone. I headed back to my car and just took this big hefty nap.
I wake up to my cousin and brother pulling up to help me. By this point I'm upset because I've had time to think about how much of a disadvantage I'm at without my car. However, my cousin specializes in fixing cars so I settle a little bit. My cousin (who lives with my Mimi) tells me he'll stay the night to fix my car since it's getting dark. In summary, it was a long day.
Around midnight I wake up to a little bit of commotion outside my door. My cousin looks wide-eyed and tells me he's called an ambulance for my grandma. It's late, I'm thinking that my grandma is just wanting my cousin to come home so she told him she was hurting, and that my cousin is going to be in a lot of trouble for calling an ambulance. I go back to bed, not wanting to be caught in the situation. However, around five my mother wakes me up and we head to the hospital.
Apparently, around midnight my Mimi decided to climb up into the attic. It wasn't floored correctly so she fell from said attic 10 feet onto solid concrete. She had a punctured lung, bilateral breaks on her pelvis, a shattered right arm, ribs broken from the first all the way down on her right side. When she fell, she dragged herself from the floor into the kitchen in order to get a call for help out. I'm really thankful she's still with us. My grandma is the strongest person I've ever known, a former detective, the last of many siblings, is really pushing through the pain. She's gotten out of the hospital recently but every day that hasn't been a school night I've been staying with her, taking care of her.
On another note, my cousin almost burned the house down (around last week, I think). He's been trying to quit smoking and since him and our family has been stressed, he picked it up again. I have a hot tub in the backyard (less than a foot away from our house) and he put out a cig around it. I guess the chemicals in the hot tub caused it to ignite, but heading back to the hospital I noticed black smoke coming from the house. The flames had almost reached the second story of the house they were so high, but had not touched the house just yet. We were able to put it out, but you can imagine how afraid I was! It's just been a rough month for my family and I, but we're doing our best to pull through together.
Edit: Sorry mods! This probably goes in Your Life. D:
