Hey guys, sooooo I wanna tell you about my senior projects because I'm excited about them. Currently I'm on break until early Jan. and I'm spending that time doing nothing but petz and working on said senior projects and hanging out with my boyfriend. It's kind of amazing and I don't think I'll get a break like this again for a while...
I'm a English/Music major / senior in college - since I have am studying a double major, I have to complete two senior projects... so that's kinda fun.
For my first one, I'm doing a deep listening project lecture recital for my music degree. And the dean is helping me with it. For real. He's an amazing musician/human being/advocate for mindfulness/deep listening & sonic meditation and he is going to help me work through different "songs"/audience participation activities that will help me explain with deep listening is, and then share my experience of 4 years of college through those exercises/performances. I don't know anyone else that has done this with their senior project, and neither does he, so this is like a super weird exploratory thing for me, and it's going to force me into weird awkward places with my comfort zone and with the people I'm working with on it and I'm so excited. XD I want to play with sounds that depict anxiety for some of the first ones, and then use water/relaxing sounds for other ones; I used to hang by a fountain and take a walk when I got stressed so it's sort of a different approach of expression. And then I'm going to combine spoken word & poems into the experience. I'm not entirely sure how this is going to work yet - if I'm going to read them or be playing one of my instruments, or what? But weird project, right? I have no idea what I'm doing and I'm so terrified. lol.
annndddd for my english majorrr...
I'm working with one of my favorite professors and doing a big poetry portfolio of sorts. Basically I'm taking an advanced creative writing course and doing some extra work in the class because that is wayyyyy easier than writing a 50 page thesis paper, in my opinion. And way more fun, lol. So I kinda avoided a thing I didn't want to do with something awesome. With the fun catch of being able to use some of the poems in my music senior project, and then it's also kinda cool that the poetry class is going to focus on sounds. COINCIDENCE MUCH?
But yeah I wanted to share. Senior projects and college and things.
Have you done any sort of final/senior project, and what did you do?
