Welcome to Hard Tack Thoroughbreds, a stable that is devoted to the excellence that is the Thoroughbred horse.
The Thoroughbred breed is over 300 years old, dating from three imported Arabic stallions - the Byerley Turk, the Goldolphin Barb and the Darley Arabian. Crossed with sturdy heavier mares of English descent, the offspring of all three stallions were fleet footed, lightly boned and fiery tempered animals that excelled on the Turf. Thoroughbred flat racing was born in the British Isles, but has since expanded into a worldwide phenom that appeals to people of all ages. The sight of 1000 lb horses, manes and tails flying, pounding pell mell down a turf track in a cavalry charge to the finish, has thrilled spectators from the 1875 Kentucky Derby to the 1930 Melbourne Cup to the 2014 Japanese Cup.
In this stable, you'll find the Petz Thoroughbreds emulating their real-life counterparts. All horses in this barn are currently in training or racing, competing with the other top Thoroughbreds of the forum for the prestige of the Breeder's Cup and the thrill of the Triple Crown trail. Each horse'a page contains a photo of the horse, its breeding information, its stats and abilities and its racing record to better inform other members of its racing ability. Any inquires about my horses are welcome!
The majority of the horses here will be retired after reaching Grade I status, and are open for breeding after they attain Grade III status.
Each horse also competes off the track in a number of divisions to show off the diversity of the breed. We participate in such events as In-Hand, Hunter Under Saddle, Western Pleasure, Dressage, Jumping and Endurance. The Thoroughbred is a rare breed that can compete at the top level of almost any sport, and we pride ourselves at Hard Tack on our champions both on and off the track.
