Dubai World Cup Carnival Records
The Dubai World Cup was created in 1995 by the United Arab Emirates as what was then the richest Thoroughbred horse race in the world. Run at the global classic distance of 10 furlongs, it has been on either dirt or synthetic tracks, with the most recent return to dirt in the last few years. It has been won by Kentucky Derby winners and top handicappers alike, beginning with the immortal Cigar in 1995 and most recently with dual classic winner California Chrome in 2016. The World Cup Carnival itself is spread out over 11 days at Meydan Racecourse, and culminates in a series Group 1 races on the turf and the dirt, ranging from sprints to marathons as the best horses of the world compete not just for the Cup, but against some of the best horses in the world in a brilliant and often raucous series of thundering hooves and flying silks.
Below are all the past winners and winning times. This will be updated on a yearly basis as each Dubai Carnival is run.
